iPhone 8 Motherboard Severely Water Damaged
We received an iPhone 8 which was water damaged and couldn’t power on. The phone was said to have been dropped into water for quite long time. Because there is important data on the hard drive, we were asked to try out best to restore it.
The phone can charge properly both with wired and wireless charger, but the screen didn’t light up and no vibration.
After the screen was removed and motherboard taken out, a severely water damaged motherboard was displayed before us (see images below). There were quite a few places on the motherboard damaged by water, including LCD control/power supply circuit, Home button control circuit, charging circuit etc. Fortunately CPU and baseband chips and peripheral circuits were alright, which are essential to a phone.
Phone Motherboard Repair&Treatment
1) All visible rust on the motherboard was removed with specific cleaning liquid.
2) All broken wires on the motherboard were figured out and reconnected with jumping wires and secured with insulting green oil.
3) Damaged microchips were removed and replaced with proven good ones.
4) Damaged screen and front camera flex were replaced with quality parts.
After all those listed above were done, the phone can successfully power up. All functions were tested and the phone turned out in full working order! We have not only rescued data on this phone, but also restore a iPhone 8!
