Phone Battery Replacement, When?

We replaced 82 phone batteries in the past one year since the opening of our shop. All kinds of phone batteries, Apple iPhone, Samsung, Google Pixel, Huawei, Xiaomi, Motorola, Sony, OnePlus, Nokia etc.

Here are the common reasons when a smartphone need its battery replaced.

Phone battery doesn't last a whole day

All smartphones are designed to last you a whole day with a full charge, whatever it’s iPhone or Samsung, Google Pixel, Huawei, Xiaomi, OnePlus, Sony, Motorola, Nokia etc.

When a phone cannot last you a whole day, it might need a new battery. Almost all smartphone systems provide battery health information. For iPhones, it’s in Settings->Battery->Battery Health. When it shows ‘service’ or a percentage below 80%, it needs a new battery. For Android smartphones, it differs according to different makes, but you can always find it in settings.

A genuine, good quality battery with 80% lifetime can last you a whole day. But there are poor quality batteries on the market. Even though the capacity level is far above 80%, it still doesn’t last you a whole day. As professional and reliable phone repair business, we always use quality batteries for all customers.

Smartphone fails to power on

When a smartphone battery is too old to output proper voltage, it can’t power up a smartphone. As most of us know, battery activity drops in low temperature. That’s why a battery can power up a phone in summer, but not in winter. In our experiences, we replace more smartphone batteries in winter than summer.

Smartphone powers off automatically while battery level is still high

If a smartphone battery is poor in health, its out voltage gets unstable especially when you make phone calls or play games on it. It can power off or restart automatically when output voltage drops below required level. When you come across this phenomenon, it’s probably a good time to replace the battery.

Smartphone shows some signs of swollen

We have seen a lot of smartphones with the battery swollen inside and push the screen outward. There is considerable portion of lithium batteries getting swollen after being used a period of time, not only in smartphones but also in laptops. Some batteries swell not too much and don’t affect anything, but some swell dramatically and even damage the screen. Below are some pictures of it.

A smartphone with a normal battery is flat and no gap between the screen and phone body. If you find gaps between the screen and phone body or the phone screen or back glass get swollen, it’s a warning that the battery might have gone wrong. It’s wise to bring it to a phone doctor before the battery does irreversible damage to the screen.
